How many acoustic guitars have you seen with this much metal attitude! If you're after an acoustic, but have an image to maintain, then the Dean Vcoustic is what you need.
Yes, it's an acoustic guitar, in a Flying V shape - bizarre, but it works properly, and with a Dean pickup system, you can plug this into your Marshall for them slow numbers.
The Vcoustic has a massively wide, traditional Dean V shaped headstock, this adds a bit of weight to the neck end, and helps to balance the whole guitar out. Deans 'Wings' logo shines out from the front of the headstock, the rear is plain, with sealed, die-cast chrome machine heads, 3 a side of the headstock.
The Mahogany neck feels nicely slim, with a high gloss finish to the back. The Rosewood fingerboard is fully bound, in a cream Celluliod plastic. The fretwork is neat and tidy, with well polished frets and the Rosewood is also of a good quality. Small pearl dots mark the usual fretboard positions.
The neck joins the body at the 14th fret, and whilst upper fret access is clearly easy, this guitar is really designed for twiddly solo's at the 20th!
The Spruce top has a very finish to it, with a lovely dark grain, the body is fully bound in 3 ply black/cream celluloid. The triangular soundhole has the Dean 'Wings' logo adorning the bottom.
The Rosewood bridge on Dean acoustics has a kind of 'swish' shape, just gives them a bit of extra individuality.
The Vcoustic has a decent Dean pre-amp fitted, with slide controls for Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence, and a rotary control for volume. A battery check light is also there. Positioned nicely on the side of the guitar, it's dead easy to see and adjust the controls.
The output jack of the Vcoustic is on the outside of the lower point, and the straphook on the inside of the upper point.
What does it sound like? Umm, well, it's not made for sound, it's made to look! No, actually, it sounds OK acousticaly, not much bass, and maybe a little too much middle, but plug it in and the Dean EQ is versatile enough to balance this out and performing should not be a problem.
The Dean Vcoustic is just something really different. An out and out fun guitar that plays just fine and will certainly get people talking.
