With an impressive 20 watts of bass amplification, and a 10" Custom-Voiced speaker, the Peavey MAX 110 offers remarkable value at just £89 for a bass amp that is designed to be easy to use for practice and small jam sessions.
This version of the MAX features Peaveys TransTube circuitry for a vintage tube bass amp sound, a 3 band EQ, selectable EQ presets, MP3/CD input and DDT speaker protection circuit.
The MAX 110 weighs in at 11kg, it's 449mm high, 391mm wide and 285mm deep, so not too big for the home. It's all finished in a black, vinyl covering, with a decent wooden casing.
Looking at the controls, the Gain dial sets the preamp input gain (bassically the volume level!), then the Voicing switch offers several EQ and TransTube gain variations which essentially offers you several amps in one, each with distinct tonal characteristics -
Modern - based on 'West Coast' EQ voicing with no tube emulation
Vintage - Based on Peavey TransTube front-end with a vintage tube bass voicing
The MAX 110 has a 3 band EQ shape the tone further, you get low, mid and high to get thumping metal bass, or somthing a little jazzier perhaps!
Then you get the MP3/CD input, and a 1/4" headphone socket.
A perfect bedroom practice amp for bass guitarists, an impressive sound, cool looks and a great price too.
