Top - Solid Cedar Body - Mahogany Binding - Maple Neck - Nato Fingerboard - Sonokeling Scale - 648mm Machines - Classical style 3-in-line, Amber Buttons Bridge - Sonokeling
Another great value guitar from Vintage, this lovely little parlour shaped guitar looks really good, plays beautifully and sounds even better!
With a smaller, rounded body size, slotted classical guitar style hreadstock and attractive soundhole rozette, this is a really nice looking instrument as well, and at under £150, a total bargain.
The headstock is a dark, Mahogany-esque Nato, in satin natural, the whole guitar has a satin finsh. The front of the headstock has a white Abolone Vintage logo.
The headstock has a slotted style, like a classical guitar, which is the fashion at the moment on these Parlour guitars. So on the sides are a row of 3 in line Machines on a fancy looking gold plate with large brown perloid buttons.
The neck is also Nato, with a satin finish and a fairly chunky C profile. Nut width is 43mm, string spacing at the bridge 55mm, good for finger pickers, and action at the 12th fret is low at 2-3mm across the board.
The fingerboard is Rosewood, quite a light colour to the model I have here, with nicely done Maple binding up the edges. The fretwork is excellent for a guitar built to this price point, no rough edges here, all polished well and at a decent height. The inlays are small white Avolone dots, with a nice looking flowery motiff at the 12th.
The neck joins the Mahogany body at the 14th fret, very traditional on these models of course. The top is solid Cedar, not bad on a guitar of the price, with a nice, tight stripey grain. The top is bound with a 5 ply cream and black, running into Maple around the edges.
The soundhole rozette looks great, it really sets the guitar off, the 3D cubes look like an intricate wooden mosaic, but at this price, I think it must be a transfer.
The sides and back are plain old Mahogany, with more Maple binding and a Maple cap on the heel joint.
So, what does it sound like, well, there is plenty of volume, good warmth and a nice depth to the tone. Highs are bright and cheerful, and there is good body the bass end, all with loads of sustain.
A nice playing Parlour with a charming appearance, decent sound and good playability. But best of all, it's less than £150, putting it in a total budget price bracket - amazing stuff from Vintage once again.
