The Ashton D25 is a good quality acoustic guitar to start learning on, and at just over £100, it won't break the bank. With accessories including a padded gig-bag, DVD, strap and spare strings, everything you need to get playing is included.
The D25 is a full sized 'dreadnought' acoustic guitar, physically quite a large body, giving a big sound and lots of volume. Suitable for kids over about 12 years, and adults of all shapes and sizes!
The D25 features an 'A' grade Spruce top, Sapele body, Rosewood fingerboard and die cast Chrome tuners, all combing to give a nice and bright sound.
The headstock of the Ashton D25 is nice and curvy, with a coloured face and back, matching the guitars body, and the Ashton logo on the top in attractive green and purple Abolone.
The neck is Mahogany, and it's fairly slim and easy going, so don't worry if you think you have small hands. The fingerboard is Rosewood, and it's bound in cream coloured plastic along both sides, making a nice smooth edge.
The fingerboard itself has large white position markers, and nicely polished up fretwork and Rosewood, making for a nice guitar to play.
The neck joins the Sapele, a type of Mahogany, body at the 14th fret. The front, or top, or the guitar is made from 'A' grade Spruce, which produces a nice and bright sound, pretty impressive for a starter guitar.
The top is bound in 5 ply black and white plastic, whilst around the back, we have a straphook on the heel joint, at the base of the neck, more binding and a cream centre line, where the has been split and joined together.
The top edge of the D25 has a built in tuner, very useful, with a small power button and LCD display showing the current note, 2 red LED's that light up to show if you're flat or sharp and a blue LED when you're in tune. It's fully chromatic as well, letting you tune any string to any pitch, useful for more advanced playing.
Good stuff so far, and onto the front of the D25, we have a proper wooden inlaid mosaic soundhole rosette, very smart, no stuck on transfers here, a large black scratchplate and Rosewood bridge, with 6 white bridge pins keeping the strings in place.
The guitar itself is available in a range of different glossy colours, or the most popular choice, which is Satin Natural, giving a nice and smooth feel, and a bit of a classy look!
Included with the pack is an excellent instructional DVD, so you'll be playing chords and songs in no time, a decent padded guitar bag, a strap, a spare string set and even some plectrums.
A lot of guitar and kit for your money, highly recommended.
