Top, Sides & Back - Laminated Linden Neck - Maple, dot inlays, 650mm scale Fingerboard - Rosewood, 20 frets, 650mm scale Bridge - Mahogany Machines - Fully Enclosed Chrome
The Falcon folk guitar is an excellent choice for you if you're looking for a cheap acoustic guitar, but find a full sized instrument a bit too big to handle. With a smaller body, this folk guitar is a great choice for kids over about 10 and ladies.
The Falcon acoustic guitar has been just abot our most popular instrument at Guitarbitz for the last 5 years, and this model is based on another very popular guitar - the award winning Vintage V300.
Avalable in Natural or Sunburst, both with a gloss finish, and at just £49, they really are a bargain. if you're looking for a cheap guitar to have for the bedroom, or to do a bit of travelling with, it will prove the perfect choice. Why not add our popular Falcon Kit as well, with a Qwik Tune digital tuner, an A frame guitar stand, spare string set, strap, plectrums and even a DVD to help you get started - great value at only £25!
The headstock is square, a dark brown colour, with the signature Falcon logo on the front. The back has 2 rows of Chrome die-cast tuners that work very well.
The neck is good, fairly slim, so good for smaller hands as well, with a width of 44mm. The smooth fingerboard is black with large white dot position markers. Fretwork is all up to standard as well, can't really fault it for this money.
The neck joins the body at the 14th fret, standard on an acoustic guitar, and ends at the soundhole which has a groovey white and black rosette and large black scratchplate.
The body has a thick gloss finish, protecting the wood from any minor mishaps, but do bear in mind that Falcons are made to be cheap, so some very minor imperfections in the finsh are occassionally found, but this will not detract from either the good playability or bright sounds at all.
The body is smaller and more curvey than the Falcon Acoustic guitar, measuring 490mm from top to bottom and 380mm across at its widest, against 510mm and 400mm. This may not sound much, but it is a significantly easier guitar to play.
The guitar plays fine, the neck and fingerboard are quite easy to get on with, and the sounds are bright and characterful, with chords ringing out and fingerpicking clear with good sustain.
In all, a very good entry level guitar for those on a tight budget, a great introduction and the perfect choice for kids, girls and ladies.
