The Tanglewood TW28-STR Deluxe combines smooth dark looks with a crisp and sparkling tone. The sound quality comes from its solid American Spruce top and is further enhanced by Rosewood in the back and sides. The refined and unique style is sealed with a gloss finish over the wooden bound body and also decorative Abalone inlays and Tanglewood headstock logo.
The TW28STR gives a striking display of dark woods and attractive eye-catching decorations. The dark brown Rosewood back and sides of the guitar have a thickly striped grain that beams out from within the gloss finish. This is separated from the lighter solid Spruce top by a multiple wooden binding that matches the rings of the soundhole rosette. The TW28STR also has a thin wooden binding running down the centre back line and separating the Rosewood back and sides. The solid Rosewood fretboard is also entirely bound in a light coloured wooden trim, with black side dots indicating fret position.
Large green circular Abalone inlays run down the face of the fretboard, in-between the nicely rounded Nickel Silver frets. The Mahogany neck feels rewardingly smooth and consistent thanks to a superior matte finish. This texture continues up behind the headstock where 6 Grover style tuners gleam in gold. The large stepped gold tuning knobs add a touch of luxury and complement the rich dark coloured glossy face of the head. Green Abalone is used for the Tanglewood logo that shimmers in pearly colours, matching the fret inlays. The TW28STR also has a tortoiseshell pick guard and gold straphook.
The combination of different woods and materials help give an instrument its tonal characteristics and in the TW28STR the combination of a solid Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides make for an interesting sound. The Solid American Spruce top gives a large response to hard picking styles with a punchy treble attack. This gives the guitar ample volume when you strum hard making it especially suited to the more energetic player! The Rosewood back and sides give the TW28STR its unique character with a sweet voice that really sings out on the high notes, adding harmonic interest. These woods in combination with the dreadnaught body shape make this an exciting guitar to play. Sound quality is guaranteed to last thanks to the solid top and even the bridge is made from solid Rosewood. The guitar feels secure and comfortable to play thanks to the combination of a smooth slim neck and low string action.
