The Epiphone Les Paul Standard brings you the authentic style, playability and tone reminiscent of a Gibson Les Paul at a price that makes this a great value instrument of outstanding quality. The Standard is the first in Epiphone’s range of Les Paul models to bring you a carved maple top, cream binding and trapezoid position inlays in addition to covered dual Alnico V pickups. The gloss black headstock proudly displays its mother of pearl Epiphone logo above a large golden Les Paul signature label. A set of chrome Grover tuners respond effortlessly to any string adjustment and are sure to stay accurately in tune for extended periods of playing. The set Mahogany neck runs seamlessly into the single cutaway of the solid Mahogany body that shines from behind in its gloss finish. A brilliant cream binding runs around both the front of the guitar, and the Rosewood fingerboard that matches the traditional scratchplate.
Mother of pearl trapezoid position markers, even and well seated fretting and beautiful binding make for a smooth and rewarding playing experience. The rosewood fingerboard responds especially well to a light dose of lemon oil making it a delight to play on. The solid construction feels stable and durable, especially when played standing up during which the higher frets sit perfectly within your reach.
At the heart of the Les Paul Standard’s sound lie Epiphone designed dual Alnico magnet humbuckers, each controlled by a separate set of volume and tone controls and a pickup selector so you can blend sound coming from each. Using the neck pick-up at low volumes it has a sweet, round, fluid sound for playing mellow licks. With a bit more volume the sound gets throatier and full of body achieving that classic Les Paul tone. The bridge pickup is always ready to add a bit of biting treble for more rock inclined riffs, and the ability to blend sound coming from each pickup makes the Les Paul an extremely versatile instrument. The ultra smooth neck and solid body construction make each note ring out with sustain and still retain their full tonal interest.
