The Gibson SG is world renowned for its unique style and playability, lying somewhere between a Stratocaster and a Les Paul. Lightweight yet powerful and full of character are just some of the SG’s attributes, and the Epiphone G400 is an officially licensed version of the classic '62 Gibson SG making it one of their most popular models.
The body and neck material are both solid mahogany, finished in cherry red with a clear gloss finish that highlights the glowing wood tones underneath. The gloss black symmetrical headstock features a shiny mother of pearl emblem and Epiphone logo, with an SG label on the truss rod cover. 3 a side chrome Grover tuners give precision accuracy over string tension in combination with a chrome adjustable bridge and stop tailpiece which make the Epiphone G400 a fine looking guitar.
The 22 frets of the set mahogany neck feel smooth as they run seamlessly into the lacquer making for an effortless playing experience. Set into the unbound rosewood fingerboard are 9 reflective trapezoid mother of pearl inlays that also contribute to the comfortable feel of the G-400. That symmetrical double cutaway body and black scratch plate are unmistakable as the classic SG shape recognised by guitarists and music fans worldwide. The front of the guitar features a separate set of volume and tone controls for the dual Alnico V humbucking pickups in addition to a forward facing input jack and three way pickup selector.
The solid mahogany construction and ceramic magnet Alnico humbuckers make for dynamite power and sustain, perfect for blues and rock and powerful enough to deliver tones often deeper and richer than expected for such a lightweight guitar.
