The Epiphone AJ100 acoustic guitar gives you the powerful sound of a dreadnaught and presents it in a bold traditional style. Its broad bodied symmetrical body with mahogany back and sides give the AJ100 a lively and bright tone.
The shaped headstock pays tribute to the inspiration for this guitar by means of the 'Gibson AJ' labelled truss rod cover. At the top of the gloss black face of the shaped head is a stylised golden Epiphone logo and just below lye two rows of chrome tuners. The set mahogany neck has a smooth gloss finish that runs seamlessly over the edges of the rosewood fingerboard and fret edges making chord changes fast and comfortable. Large dot position inlays run down the centre of the 20 well rounded frets and smaller dots are found on the topside for convenience.
The sandy brown wood tone of the front of the guitar is contrasted by the rich deep wood shades of the mahogany back and sides, all gleaming in a hi-gloss finish. Black biding runs around the front and back of the body that matches an enlarged scratchplate with its Epiphone "E" logo. Multiple rings run around the soundhole for decorative interest and 6 black bridge pins with white centre dots neatly indent the chunky bridge and saddle. At the base of the guitar is a chrome strap hook for playing whilst standing and this also protects the guitar from scratches if you rest it upright against a wall.
A glance inside the soundhole of the AJ 100 reveals precision craftsmanship of the wooden bracing and sound board that are key indicators of the quality of an instrument. This quality is reflected in the tone of the guitar, which is crisp and steady with especially high articulation of the treble tones. The sturdiness and tonal presence of the AJ100 would make it a great guitar for someone who wants to pound out some rock riffs. Power chords are taken in its stride with a classic punchy treble sound.
For someone looking for a versatile acoustic guitar for casual strumming the AJ100 would make a sound choice. Epiphones quality construction and playability would also make this an outstanding guitar for the beginner, with plenty of scope for developing technique and style, oh yes, and the headstock bears the word Gibson!
