The Yamaha F310 is a well-constructed acoustic guitar that offers a reliable and comfortable performance at a very reasonable price. The broad dreadnaught shaped body makes for a full-bodied sound that is suitable for a variety of musical styles, and the body has a slightly narrower width for extra comfort. The body has a smooth gloss finish, and the black body binding and scratchplate give it a traditional appearance.
Steel strung guitars have a reputation for being harsh on the fingers for novice players, however the Yamaha F310 has a softer and more malleable feel than many entry-level acoustic guitars we’ve tried. If you enjoy the bright and powerful sound of an acoustic guitar, the F310 would be an ideal choice.
The Spruce top of the F310 has an attractive creamy grain, and its characteristic bright tone make the F310 great for strumming rock riffs. The string action is also nice and low to take the strain out of learning your first few chords, and the smooth frets make for easy note bending and vibrato techniques.
The well polished Rosewood fingerboard and frets are of a high standard, and decorative pearloid dots run down the fingerboard to let you know the fret number. The fretboard also runs over the face of the guitar to the soundhole to make room for frets 15 to 21. The soundhole has multi ring decoration, with the large black scratchplate surrounding the lower curves to protect the guitar from pick scratches from enthusiastic strumming. A solid Rosewood bridge houses the slanting saddle and six bridge pins to hold the strings in position. At the other end the strings are gripped by chrome machine heads, which have a smooth and accurate action for easy tuning adjustment. There is also a bottom straphook so you can play standing up.
The F310 would make an ideal guitar to start learning on for its playability and lively sound. Its sturdy construction also makes it an ideal candidate for taking to school and back every day!
