If you want a classic ‘worn out’ or ‘distressed’ look on your guitar, but can’t afford a Fender Custom Shop, and can’t be bothered to wait 20 years, the Vintage Icon Series presents an affordable aged guitar, leaving you to concentrate on enjoying it straight out of the box, onstage or at home.
These indicators of the character and personality of a well-loved instrument give a touch of authenticity to your performance and help create a genuine stage presence.
The only thing that these guitars lack when it comes to aged guitars is faulty hardware – they are all loaded with Wilkinson pickups for ultimate tone and Wilkinson hardware for durability, so you can rely on them when you need it most! These components have also been tarnished to give that aged appearance without compromising on the sound quality.
The symmetrically contoured head of the V100 has been worn down at its outer corners and the black paintwork on the headstock lacks the shine of a brand new guitar- even the vintage logo has been faded to denote a well used guitar.
The three a side tuner formation is made up of genuine Wilkinson parts that have a brushed and rubbed finish to the chrome. The metalwork of the tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece has also been subjected to various rubbing procedures giving them an aged character.
The flamed maple finishing on the top of the guitar has a smooth matt texture to it and this has been rubbed away to reveal the natural wood tones is some areas. Around the back of the neck of the guitar the Cherry Sunburst finish has been rubbed away leaving a trail of natural wood colour that seems to speak of years of constant abuse. At the back of the guitar the classic deterioration in finish caused by belt buckle rubbing can be found, along with scratches on the plastic backs to the electronics cavities.
The Vintage Icon Series V100 bears tribute to the classic Les Paul design, with its set neck, raised scratchplate and multiple volume and tone controls. These features come at great value for money and despite their worn down finishing, all are sparklingly fresh Wilkinson components underneath.
The guitar feels and plays just like a brand new V100 – a top of the range Vintage guitar. For a guitar that looks like it has done the rounds, this one is aching to get out and start doing what it was intended for – making music and having fun!

'it feels familiar and really is a dream to play. Acoustically its really happening with plenty of warm volume and undampened sustain. I'd take this guitar over almost any other LP inspired I've played, and frankly quite a few genuine Gibsons too.'
