The new AES620 is an emotional rock machine of the highest magnitude.
The slim black headstock has 3 a side Chrome Grover tuners and a plain truss rod cover. The glossy backed slim neck is lovely and smooth, with an unbound Rosewood fingerboard, having abolone dot position markers. It must be said this is one of the nicest fingerboards we've encountered, the fretwork and Rosewood are top quality and the finishing is to an excellent standard.
Sporting a carved, highly figured Maple top, this handsome setneck instrument speaks through a Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup and a custom Alnico humbucker in the neck position.
Separate volume controls for front and rear pickups and a master tone control are on the lower body, these are very smart looking chrome controls that feel very reassuringly good. The three-way toggle selector is also a smart chrome affair, getting you from power chords to solo in no time.
The strings pass over a compact chrome bridge before disappearing through the body and are secured around the back, a nice chrome trim around the holes keeps the tension in the correct place. The guitar also has 2 straphooks for better balance if required.
All in all a very nice guitar to play, the chamfered body makes it pretty lightweight for this style, and the sounds are good and versatile. Excellent value.
