The Washburn X200 Pro's feature an Alder body, with a bolt-on Maple neck. Designed to professional specifications, this guitar received 5 stars in both Guitarist Choice (May '07) and Guitar Buyer (Sep '07), and was a 'best buy' in Total Guitar (May '07), pretty well thought of then.
Quality Grover machine heads, Seymour Duncan pickups and the Buzz Feiten tuning system make for another great electric guitar from Washburn.
The headstock is an oversized, Fenderesque style, aiding balance to the guitar of course, in gloss black to the front, with the Washburn logo and X-Series in white. 2 String trees keep tension correct on the treble strings.
The back of the headstock is satin natural, showing the Maple grain through, with a row of 6 Chrome grover tuners. The Buzz Feiten logo is also shown here, this is a tuning system built into the guitar, that with the aid of a specially designed top nut and bridge helps eliminate many tuning and intonation problems.
The neck is also Maple, with a smooth satin finish, nice and slim, a broad D profile. Top nut width is 43mm. All Washburn guitars are set up in the UK prior to dispatch to us dealers, and this guitar has an action height of about 3mm on the bass side, and 2mm on the treble, pretty low, making for a fast playing neck. String spacing at the bridge is 51mm.
The 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard is unbound, with excellent fretwork, no sharp edges in sight, the board itself has a good, tight grain, and a lovely waxy sheen. The small white position markers are offset, all on the upper side of the board when you're playing.
The neck is bolted onto the Alder body with 4 recessed screws in black, no neck plate here. It joins at the 18th fret on the bass side, and 22nd on the treble, the deep cutaways give very easy access to the full 2 octaves.
The body itself has a flat top, and is chamfered away around the top of the back, giving a more comfortable playing position, and on the top of the front, giving more room for your strumming arm. Finished in a dark Trans Blue, you can see the grain of the Alder body through the heavy lacquer finish.
The X200 Pro comes with Seymour Duncan pickups, a Custom Custom at the neck, a high output humbucker, great for pop, blues, country and all sorts of rock, and a '59 at the bridge, a versatile PAF type humbucker, again great for all sorts including heavy rock. Both are of the open coil style, in black with black surrounds.
The bridge is a tune-o-matic type, together with a stop tailpiece in Chrome. There are single volume and tone controls, both black speed knobs, the tone control pulls up to operate the coil tap, turning the bridge humbucker into a brighter single coil. A 3 way selector switch is also on the lower bout.
A very nice playing guitar, great for rock and metal, and with Grovers, Duncans and Buzz Feiten all present, at this price and absolute bargain!
