Based on Washburns 'Idol' body shape, the WI200 Pro has a Mahogany solid body with a bolt-on Maple neck.
Designed with professional specificaions, this guitar received 5 stars in both Guitarist Choice (May '07) and Guitar Buyer (Sep '07).
The WI200 has a big, wide headstock, glossy black front, natural Maple back, with 6 Grover Rotomatic machine heads, an 18:1 gear ratio gives excellent, accurate tuning, this is also aided by the Buzz Feiten tuning system which gives better intonation.
The neck is slim and smooth, a natural Maple finish to the back, the fretboard is unbound and extremely smooth with quality fretwork and Pearloid dot position markers. A really good players neck, fast and totally trouble free.
The neck is bolted onto a Mahogany body, the WI200 Pro features a deep, cherry, see through finish. We're not too sure, but the body shape seems to be a cross between a Les Paul and an SG, either way, it's nicely balanced and gives good access to the higher frets.
A choice of pickups for you, the Pro version has 1 Seymour Duncan '59, and 1 Duncan Custom Custom. The Pro E has 2 EMG's, an '81 and an '85, for those of you wanting a bit more gain.
As expected on this style of guitar, you get 2 volumes and 2 tones, a 3 way selector, and the Pro E version has a coil tap as well.
The Pro features a system called VCC, Voice Contour Control. Worked by adjusting the tone controls, the higher settings giving as proper humbucker sound, turn down for more twangy single coils sounds. This gives a really impressive array of different tones, the neck pickup is hotter and clearer, with a higher output, the bridge more bluesy, with a darker tone.
The string pass over a chrome tune-o-matic bridge, before finishing at a stop tailpiece.
The Pro E version in black has black hardware, the Pro version in the gorgeous, deep thru red has chrome hardware.
A truly versatile electric guitar with a great range of sounds, top playability and really good looks - highly recommended and well worth the recent awards.
