Top - Spruce/Cedar Body - Mahogany, Abolone rosette Binding - Maple all round Neck - Mahogany Fingerboard - Rosewood Machines - Grover style, Chrome Bridge - Rosewood Pickup - B-Band A3.2 EQ system Controls - 3 band EQ, presence, Volume
The TF is a super folk style electro acoustic guitar by Tanglewood, available in a variety of coloured finishes, all fitted with a top quality B Band pickup system. The Spruce top gives rise to a bright and lively tone, making this an excellent entry-level electro acoustic guitar. For those that like the natural feel of wood, there is also a natural satin version with a Cedar top.
Maple binding runs around the front and back of the guitar brings the curved body to life, it continues up the neck and all around the headstock. This trim forms a continuous fine black and white line around the body, which makes for a pleasant contrast with the coloured paint work. The soundhole bears more decorations, with a nice white Abolone rosette.
The fingerboard is decorated with large central dot position inlays in-between the frets and smaller side dots for reference. The Mahogany neck of the guitar feels sturdy and smooth and has the same glossy coloured finish as the body and headstock. The rectangular shaped headstock sits back at an angle to the neck so that the strings sit securely in their slots at the nut. Each string is held steady at the face of the headstock by a chrome Grover-style machine head.
At the back of the headstock the large tuners are adjusted by chrome knobs which look attractive and are responsive to the touch. The headstock is also adorned with a silver Tanglewood logo running parallel to the neck.
The B Band electro acoustic unit gives you the ability to amplify the sound to a level suitable for live performances with other instruments. The lower chrome straphook doubles up as the cable jack, and the control unit sits on the upper bout of the body, This Equaliser gives active control over bass, middle and treble frequencies. There are also presence and volume controls to let you adjust the tone before it goes to an amplifier. The introduction of these EQ's onto Tanglewood entry level instruments is a massive plud, usually reserved for their Premier and Sundance ranges only.
The folk shaped body has a narrow waist, making for a sweeter sound than its dreadnaught cousin, also making it more suitable for smaller framed players, with the lower cutaway bending back round on itself to form a comfortable leg rest.
The lower cutaway also exposes the upper regions of the fretboard so you can reach the high notes more easily.
The TF Folk is a versatile acoustic guitar and should come in handy for a variety of musical styles. It also offers those on a budget the capacity for playing their instrument through an amplifier, recording or performing.
