With its solid Mahogany body with a highly figured quilt Maple top and glued-in Mahogany neck, the EX has its roots firmly planted in the Les Paul tradition.
But that's where the tradition ends.
A 24 fret Ebony fingerboard with seductive 'blade' inlays and jumbo frets give you two full octaves while the active EMG-81/85 humbucking pickup combination provides the punch behind every single note.
Epiphone straplocks provide security for this axe while a LockTone tune-o-matic/stopbar ensure massive sustain.
The Les Paul Custom EX features a black headstock and Ebony fingerboard, both fully bound for smooth feel and a clean look. The headstock features a pearloid 'prophecy' design, and the fingerboard has blade inlays. Epiphones new SpeedTaper neck has a very slim 'D' profile and satin finish for fast perfomance and smooth feel.
Hardware is satin black all round, with Grover machine heads, premium metal knobs with pearl inlays and all-metal, heavy duty switches.
The Epiphone LockTone tune-o-matic/stopbar bridge system not only provides added security, but also increases sustain. Again finished in matt black.
The active EMG-81/85 humbucking pickup combination provides high-output performance that's synonymous with heavy, aggressive music.
