Top - Spruce Body - Rosewood Fingerboard - Rosewood Scale - 650mm (25.5") Machines - Gold Bridge - Rosewood Pickup - Shadow P7
Valencia have been making Classical guitars for over 35 years, and this fine electro acoustic version uses all of their knowledge to produce a fine quality and geat value instrument.
It's all very nicely finished, and construction appears to be of a high standard. The gold tuners keep pitch precisely, whilst the headstock and neck are heavily lacquered, showing off a nice grain to the wood.
The Rosewood fingerboard is not the smoothest we've experienced, but a good dose of lemon oil later, and we're in business! The width at the nut is 52mm, giving plent of room for fretting, particularly if you have large hands.
The body if fully bound to the front and back in black with gold pinstripes, giving a very smart appearance. The back and sides have a dark, tighly grained finish, much like Rosewood, whilst the contrasting top is a very light Spruce, quite unusual.
This cutaway version has the neck joint at the traditional 12th fret, but on the treble side gives easy access right up to the 15th and beyond if you're brave!
The guitars upper bout stores the Shaddow EQ system, large with easy to use controls and a battery housing. We have a 4 band EQ and brightness controls.
The sounds are clear and sustain is good, quite pleasing, and the pickup gives a good representation of the guitars acoustic tones.
Finished with a large, Rosewood bridge and tasteful soundhole rozette, the guitar certainly looks good for a sub £100 instrument.
