Modern Classical Guitars with cutaway bodies and electronic pickups are enjoying a big increase in popularity at the moment. The refreshing new interest in folk music and the performing possibilites with these instruments make them a great alternative to steel strung acoustics.
This Valencia Electro Classical from their Custom range is a super example of how much guitar (and case) you can get for not much bucks. This model features a solid Spruce top, which makes a big difference particularly on classicals, really amplifying the volume and giving much more ring and sustain to the notes.
The guitar has the traditional slotted headstock, made of Mahogany, with Valencia's stylish 'V' logo in gold. The tuners are good quality, with white pearloid knobs and hold the pitch very precisely.
The neck is Mahogany as well, with a very glossy finish, and a very smooth Rosewood fingerboard which is unbound. The fretwork is very good on this model, a good height and well polished off.
The cutaway body gives access right up to the 17th fret on the treble side. The soundhole has a stylish wood mosaic rozette, giving a classy finish to the front.
The body is nicely bound in Maple, setting off the dark, Rosewood back and sides. The back is similarly bound, with a 3 ply centre line and well bookmatched woods used.
This instrument is fitted with a Shadow P7 pre-amp, controls for the 5 band equalizer and volume are easily at hand, and there is also a useful 'Anti Feedback' switch.
Included is a top quality luxury Valencia branded hardcase with a velvet blanket to further protect the guitar. This case on it's own would probably cost you £80.
