We have put together this exciting range of Gretsch Guitars at Guitarbitz Guitar Shop. The Gretsch named is famous for producing some of the best sounding guitars in the 1950s and 1960s and was played by a host of leading musicians who enjoyed the particular styling and sound produced from Gretsch Guitars. Gretsch started out as a music shop in America back in the 19th century, they originally sold banjos and drums but moved into creating Jazz Guitars during the 1920s.
The Gretsch name was most famous during the 1950s where there range of electric guitars even managed to outsell the great Fender brand. This was due to their high-quality designs and tones, along with endorsements from some of the leading musicians of the time including Chet Atkins, Eddie Cochran and Duane Eddy. Probably the most famous musician to regularly play Gretsch Guitars was George Harrison in the 1960s.
In the 1970s Gretsch Guitars struggled to make an impact and the company eventually had to close in the early 1980s. This was mainly down to music trends and the introduction of glam rock and punk in the late 70s and early 80s. However, the brand started again in the 90s, as they began to reintroduce their older models and popular ranges of guitar. The music trends changed in the 90s as more indie bands were formed and the styling and sound of Gretsch guitars became popular again.
Gretsch have long been known for their high quality and workmanship which is reflected in their price. Gretch have now released their electromatic range which combines their styling, high quality workmanship and amazing sounds in a more affordable price, bringing Gretsch guitars to the masses.
At Guitarbitz Guitar Shop we have great ranges of other guitars available including leading brands such as Fender Guitars, Tanglewood Guitars and Takamine Guitars.
