Based on Ashtons popular D25, this CEQ electro acoustic guitar features a Spruce top, Mahogany body and an excellent EQ and pickup system - perfect for performing, recording or using effects pedals.
Here available in a dark glossy Wine Red. But the Ashton D25CEQ is available in a wide range of finishes to suit all tastes.
The headstock of the Ashton D25 is nice and curvy, with a coloured face and back, matching the guitars body, and the Ashton logo on the top in attractive green and purple Abolone.
The neck is Mahogany, and it's fairly slim and easy going, so don't worry if you think you have small hands. The fingerboard is Rosewood, and it's bound in cream coloured plastic along both sides, making a nice smooth edge.
The fingerboard itself has large white position markers, and nicely polished up fretwork and Rosewood, making for a nice guitar to play.
The neck joins the Sapele, a type of Mahogany, body at the 14th fret. The front, or top, or the guitar is made from 'A' grade Spruce, which produces a nice and bright sound, pretty impressive for a starter guitar.
The top is bound in 5 ply black and white plastic, whilst around the back, we have a straphook on the heel joint, at the base of the neck, more binding and a cream centre line, where the has been split and joined together.
Good stuff so far, and onto the front of the D25, we have a proper wooden inlaid mosaic soundhole rosette, very smart, no stuck on transfers here, a large black scratchplate and Rosewood bridge, with 6 white bridge pins keeping the strings in place.
The pickup on this model is Ashtons own Prener SP-II, which has got a versatile 3 band EQ, bass, middle and treble, presence and master volume controls on sliders, an M-Freq control on a rotary control which boosts or cuts the middle frequencies, and a large LCD screen for the fully chromatic tuner.
This all makes for an accurate reproduction of the guitars natural sound, and being able to really shape your tone so easily is great. you also get output jacks for a standard 1/4" socket and an XLR cable, allowing you to go straight into a mixing desk or PA system.
Included with the pack is an excellent instructional DVD, so you'll be playing chords and songs in no time, a decent padded guitar bag, a strap, a spare string set and even some plectrums.
A lot of guitar and kit for your money, highly recommended.
