The Synergy from Vintage is an electro acoustic guitar aimed firmly at electric guitarists. With a small, slim bowlback body and neck, 6 a side headstock, light strings and low action, they've tried to make this guitar as easy to play as an acoustic can be!
The headstock is very Fenderesque, with 1 row of 6-a-side unbranded Chrome die cast tuners, very electric, and even a string tree keeping extra pressure on the two highest strings.
The face is gloss black, with the Vintage logo and 'Synergy Series' in gold and white paint. Very smart.
The neck is very slim, a shallow D profile, with a satin finish to the back, also rather Fenderesque. Nut width is 43mm, and action as supplied from the factory at the 12th fret is about 4mm on the treble side, 5mm at the bass.
The fretboard is a dark coloured Rosewood with small white Abolone crosses marking the usual positions. It's bound up both sides in cream plastic. Fretwork is more than adequate, quite smooth and playable.
The Nato neck joins the fibre glass, resinous body at the 14th fret on the bass side, 17th on the treble, and gives good access to all 22 frets.
The back is bowled, like an Ovation guitar, with a black rippled surface, and this really aids the projection of sound through the soundhole.
The top is bound in 5 ply cream and black plastic, in a solid black colour. All very nice, with thin Abolone soundhole rosettes, 2 strap buttons and Rosewood bridges.
The Vintage Synergy is also fitted with a very good Fishman Ion T pickup, which features a master volume, contour and phase controls to shape your sound, and an excellent built in LED tuner.
When played acoustically, the Synergy is bright and loud, not massive amounts of bass but plenty of jingle jangle and fun. The Fishman EQ is top quality and gives plenty of versatility to really get some excellent tone.
One of Vintages most popular new models of recent years, the Synergy is an excellent value Bowlback guitar with good looks, bright sounds and an excellent Fishman pickup.
