Not a word to be used lightly, but the Fender Stratocaster is just that.
The 2012 American Standard Stratocaster guitars from Fender are beauties to behold in sound, look and feel.
Features include hand-rolled fingerboard edges, Custom Shop pickups, staggered tuners, improved bridge with bent steel saddles and copper-infused high-mass block for increased resonance and sustain, tinted neck, a beautiful Maple fretboard, satin neck back for smooth playability and a thin-finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance.
Comes complete with a Fender exclusive SKB moulded case, cable, strap and polishing cloth.
The all time classic American Standard Stratocaster, an absolute beauty.
The headstock is very familiar, one of the most recognisable parts of the Strat, with it's curves and bumps. The face has a gloss finish, with Fenders silver spaghetti logo, MADE IN USA, STRATOCASTER and 'Original Contour Body' printed in black.
The back of the headstock if satin Maple, with the guitars serial number only, along with a row of 6 in line, Fender made, Chrome, die-cast, high quality machine heads.
The 2012 Strat has a Maple neck with a modern C shape, so dead easy to get along with, and with a satin finish, it's a real joy to hold and play. The Maple fingerboard has a gloss finish, with 22 medium jumbo frets, and large black dot position markers.
The neck is bolted to the Alder body, do you need telling that?, joining at the 17th fret on the bass side and 20th on the treble side.
Nut with on this Standard Strat is 43mm, with string spacing at the bridge of 53mm. Action as set by the American factory is very low, about 2mm all the way down the neck on all 6 strings.
The back of the American Stratocaster has a Sunburst effect that matches the front, and we have a square 4 bolt Chrome neck plate, engraved with Fenders logo, and CORONA CALIFORNIA. This plate also has a small micro tilt adjustment screw hole, for adjusting the neck angle, should you need to.
We also have a large ribcage chamfer on the back, giving a lovely comfortable playing position. This is a relatively heavy guitar, for a Stratocaster.
So, the front of this Sunburst model has a 3 ply white scratchplate, the control knobs, switch tip and pickup covers are all aged white, so a slightly creamy contrasting colour.
The bridge is a 2 point synchronised tremolo, so just 2 large bolts holding it in place, and we have 6 bent steel saddles with FENDER engraved twice on each. The bridge sits a few mm above the body as set up by the factory, so strings can be stretched as well as slackened.
Onto the pickups, upgraded on this 2012 version of the American Strat to Custom Shop Fat 50's, these have a bigger, brighter, clearer tone than ever. Excellent stuff.
Always a beautiful guitar, the 2012 Standard model has been upgraded with better pickups and aged controls, making a true classic even better. Includes the equally beautiful SKB hard case.
