Few guitars shaped more styles of music in the ?50s and ?60s than the Telecaster guitar. From James Burton to the Beatles, the Telecaster was at the heart of popular music.
And Fender still make them like they used to, with two single-coil Alnico pickups, vintage bridges and knurled chrome knobs.
The Classic Series ?60s Telecaster features an Alder body, a Maple neck with a Rosewood fingerboard, and a three-ply mint green pickguard.
The headstock is classic Tele, uber-thin, with a gloss finish to the front and rear. The Fender script logo and "TELECASTER" are on on the front.
The back has a single row of 6 vintage style machine heads, all in chrome, with thin posts and curly buttons, and the guitars serial number.
The Maple neck also has a heavy gloss lacquer finish, it feels fairly slim, a C profile. Nut width is just under 42mm.
The fingerboard is Rosewood, as on all of Fenders 60's guitars, it's unbound and un-lacquered, but has been well waxed and plays wonderfully well.
Large white dot markers are to be found, whilst all fret work has been finished to a very high standard - this is one nice playing guitar. It's been well set-up by Fender too, with an action of 2mm on the treble side, 3mm on the bass at the 12th fret - and no fret buzz!
The neck joins the white Alder body at the 17th fret on the bass side and 20th on the treble side - the cutaway here giving good access to the upper register.
The neck is bolted onto the body, and around the back here we have a plain Chrome plate with 4 bolts. The rest of the back is totally plain, apart from 6 holes for the string through body method.
Telecasters also have fairly sparten fronts, this model has a 3 ply vintage white scratchplate, a shiny Chrome plate housing the master volume, tone and 3 way pickup selector switch, and Chrome bridge, on this vintage 60's version, part shiny and part satin with 3 threaded steel saddles.
Sounds wise, classic Telecaster stuff of course, the 2 single coil pickups giving a glorious mixture of brittle and warm vintage tones, so much versatility from such a simple guitar.
