PRS has teamed up with "Evil Twin" Nick Catanese of Black Label Society to create a guitar that meets all of Nick?s tonal and aesthetic specifications.

EMG pickups with red pickup rings, red binding on the body, neck, and headstock, and the evil twin logo featured on the body of the guitar are all appointments unique to this model.

What a beautiful guitar, a deep black gloss paint finish, contrasting red binding and pickup surrounds, EMG pickups and the evil twin logo all make up to a stunning instrument.

The Nick Catanese has a traditional PRS shaped headstock, small and compact, black to the front and rear with a thin line of red binding.

The front has the PRS logo and Nick Catonese's signature in silver script.

The back has 2 rows of Chrome PRS designed machine heads, the serial number and Korean factory name.

The neck has a gloss black paint finish to the rear, contrasting red plastic binding and a gorgeous dark black Rosewood fingerboard with no position markers.

The board is extremely smooth with a really tight grain. The jumbo frets make it easy to play, the neck is not too fat, so in all, the Catanese is a joy to play.

The neck joins the single cutaway body at the 17th fret on the bass side, 21st on the treble side, and the extra chamfering on the cutaway here makes access to all 22 frets very easy. It's 25" scale means it's great for downtuning, and the lower tension on the strings make them easier to bend.

It's quite a heavy guitar, a decent slab of Mahogany nearly 50mm thick. The back is plain black and flat, apart from a smooth edge and a little chamfering on the upper bout making it a little more comfortable against your body.

The front is almost flat, a little bit of bevelling, but not much. The red binding continues here and is matched with the red pickup surrounds. Very smart.

The pickups themselves are EMG's, an 81 and an 85, and the very chunky bridge is by TonePros. It's a combination of a wrap-around and a tune-o-matic bridge, each string has it's own saddle so you can set the intonation. It is also a locking bridge, 2 little grub screws clamp it to the bridge posts so it won't fall off when you change your strings.

It's all controlled by a simple 3 way selector and single tone and volume controls.

Sounds wise, the EMG's clearly give the Catanese a whole load of power, it's seriously impressive on the dirty channel, particularly for lead work where screaming soloing on either pickup is amazing.

Rocky rhythm work is more impressive on the heavier neck pickup, whilst on the clean channel, there is plenty of clarity and brightness for jangley open chord rhythm work as well.

A stunningly beautiful guitar with excellent specifications, loads of power in the pickups and a surprising amount of versatility, a great all round guitar for rock, metal, pop and funk.

"I have a home that knows how to make an Elegant Weapon! PRS is a guitar player?s home." - Nick Catanese
