The VSA590 is Vintages version of the classic Gibson Casino, or Epiphone if you prefer.

They've done a very good job of it as well, everything is there that should be, Grover machine heads, a Maple body, block position markers, P90 style pickups and the trepeze tailpiece.

A great looking guitar with a deluxe fitted hard case as well, and at this price a bargain.

The headstock is fairly square, gloss black to the front, with the Vintage logo and an attractive crown motif in sparkly white and green Abolone.

The back of the headstock has a sunburst effect, with 2 rows of 3 a side Grover Rotomatics.

The Mahogany neck also has a Sunburst effect, with a heavy gloss finish giving a goos and smooth feeling. The neck feels quite slim to the hand, a shallow D profile, very comfortable.

The Rosewood fingerboard has a nice grain and is well polished up, quite a nice feel to it, fretwork is also very good. The board is fully bound in cream plastic, and notice the beautiful split block inlays, in white Abolone with green diagonal fillings, excellent stuff.

The nut width on the VSA590 is 42mm, tapering to 52mm at the 12th fret, where action as supplied from the factory is very low at between 2 and 3mm across the board.

The neck joins the Maple body at the 16th fret on both sides, and access is only really any good up to the 19th fret. The back of the heel joint here has the 2nd strap hook.

The body is fully bound to the front and back in cream plastic, the back of the guitar is slightly domed, aiding the projection of sound, and it has the sunburst effect here as well, and this continues around the sides, and of course, the front.

The top features a large 3 ply white scratchplate, 2 unbound 'f' holes letting the sound out, 4 gold 'hatbox' style control knobs, a volume and tone for each pickup, 3 way selector switch, chrome tune-o-matic bridge and a simple chrome trapeze tailpiece.

To the hot hot pickups, chrome covered Wilkinson P90's, screwed directly into the centre block, giving a tremendous amount of power and volume. On the clean channel, every bit of sound is recreated with loads of character, bright highs and booming bass.

On the dirty channel, rockers are in their element, the P90's are hot emough for anything from blues and jazz through to rock, metal, and why not a bit of downtuned thrash as well, sounds great.

Overall, the best Vintage electric guitar we've seen, the neck and fretboard play very nicely, the pickups are seriously good, the finish is to a high standard, Grover tuners, a posh deluxe fitted hard case as well, and at probably half the price an Epiphone would be.
