The Vintage VGA900SB is a grand auditorium sized electro acoustic guitar that is of outstanding quality and value for money. The VGA900 offers a solid Spruce top for better tone, sealed chrome machine heads and a finely detailed finish, all of which are indicators of quality, usually demanding a higher price tag.

The Machine heads are a key feature of the VGA900SBs playability and trustworthy-ness as a guitar. Spaciously laid out on the headstock in the three a side formation they respond with precision to adjustments, with comfort guaranteed thanks to the large Grover-style kidney shaped knobs. This feature is sure to take all the difficulty out of tuning, especially for a beginner just getting to grips with their instrument. In addition to the tuners, the glossy headstock bears the vintage logo in pearloid.

Moving on to the neck of the guitar and everything is smooth and tidy, with each fret tucked neatly into the Rosewood fingerboard by a black binding. Young or inexperienced fingers should have no trouble with the frets as they have a low profile making easy work of chords and the strings are at just the right height to allow a fast action without muffling the tone. Large central dot position inlays give easy reference of fret number and there are also small white dot markers on the side of the fingerboard for convenience.

The body shape of the Vintage VGA900SB has a narrower waist and wider body. This makes it a great guitar for people who want a big sounding acoustic without such a cumbersome size. A glossy finish surrounds the top of the body but the neck, back and sides are finished in a beautiful satin gloss that makes the guitar an absolute dream to play allowing the natural wood tones shine through. On the front of the guitar the solid spruce top has a narrow grain, finished in a beautiful smokey Sunburst, whilst the mahogany back and sides are of a darker pattern.

The solid Spruce top ensures that the VGA900SB delivers a thick tone that is bulked out by the body shape. There is plenty to work with here from ringing harmonics at the higher frets to percussive treble, and hard strumming on the open chords produces ample bass too.

Fitted to this model if a top quality Fishman Isys+ pickup system, with volume, bass, treble and phase controls and a built in tuner, allowing you to plug direct into an amplifier, PA sysytem, your computer to do a bit of recording, or even direct into a sound desk.

The VGA900SB has a deservedly good reputation and for the money there are few contenders for quality and playability. The shape and feel of this guitar make it ideal for someone who is put off by the thinner sound of slim guitars. If you are looking for a quality guitar on a budget then this instrument fits the bill perfectly - and then some!
