Elixir Strings started out in 1997, but not by making guitar strings, but pully cables!
They wanted a coating to provide better performance and durability, and someone in the team had a great idea - could this coating, PTFE, help protect their guitar strings in the same way.
After numerous years of constant development, Elixir now produce a full range of strings for electric, acoustic and bass guitars.
They have 3 types of coating, the original Polyweb, the ultra thin Nanoweb and the latest, barely there Optiweb. This coating extends the life, tone and playability of the strings by many times.
All use a featherweight, long life coating to provide a barrier preventing dirt, grease, sweat, humidity, gunk and corrosion from entering not only the string itself, but inbetween, in the windings of the strings.
